Today in class, I watched some behind the scene Pixar clips, and worked on the Graphic Organizer Print Versus Web worksheet. I learned that raster graphic are composed of pixels and vector graphic are composed of paths. Also, I found out that there are different file types that I could save my work in. The native file formats uses Adobe Illustrator (.ai) and Photoshop (.psd). The vector based formats uses Encapsulated PostScript (.eps). The raster based formats uses JPEG (.jpg), Graphics Interchange Format (.gif), and Tagged-Image File Format (.tiff). The multipurpose formats uses Portable Document Format (.pdf). Lastly, I learned what the differences are between RGB (Red+Green+Blue=White) and CMYK (Cyan+Magenta+Yellow=Black). RGB mode is an additive color model. Where as, CMYK is a subtractive model. Additive color models use light to display color and subtractive color models uses printing inks.

Today in class, I finally finished my magazine cover. I added the text and barcode for the final touches. For the barcode, I went into photoshop and created a new page. I then went to filter and clicked on noise, to create the lines. I didn't get a chance to start the Beginning Typography yet, but will be the first thing I do tomorrow?
Today in class, I continued working on my magazine cover. I decided to change my dog magazine to a cat magazine instead. I changed the text so that it represents a cat magazine, and edited my cat photo using the masking tool. On Monday, I need to add the barcode and more text, and then I should be done.
Today in class, I got to continue working on my magazine cover. I added my dog's photo on the cover and some text. I got a lot done, but still have more editing to do.
Today in class, I got to start my magazine cover. I didn't know what I wanted to do until I came across a dog magazine on google image. In Photoshop, I got the background color picked and the font of the title done. Later, I will add a photo of my dog's head on the cover. I also got to finish up some old assignments.
In class today, I was given this photo of kids playing in a grassy field. I was assigned to delete and/or move kids around in Photoshop. I used the lasso tool to draw around the kids that I wanted to edit. For the kid in the corner, I deleted him by right clicking in the selected lasso area and went to fill, content-aware, at normal 100% opacity. To more the kids around, I had the selected lasso and used the content-aware move tool. Before: After: This is another image that I manipulated. I added my friend and I in a New York city gathering. In class today I was assigned to retouch this photo of a face with acne. I used the clone stamp and healing brush to make the acne disappear. Before: After:
In class today, I created two different types of monsters using Illustrator. I copied the shape of the monsters first and then placed the different body parts afterwards. Then, I used the paint bucket to color in the monsters.
This is another go-kart logo that I made in Illustrator. This time I put the logo on a vertical and horizontal business card that I made in class.
In my graphic design class, I was assigned to make a pop art. I decided to make a pop art of my sister for a Christmas gift. I created this pop art in Photoshop, using the pen tool. This is another artwork I did by using Illustrator. The objective was to create a logo. I created a wheel of a go-kart with a wing attached to it.
Never in my life would I be thinking of doing a career that would relate to graphic design. I do not see myself going into a graphic design career in my future. If I had to choose one related career that sounds interesting, it would be marketing specialists. In this career, I would collect and analyze data in customer demographics, preferences, needs and buying habits. I would also gather data on competitors by analyzing their prices, sales and method of marketing distribution. While also measuring the effectiveness of marketing, advertising and communications programs and strategies. I think this would be a great career because I could combine my learning abilities of graphic design into the marketing world.
If I do not end up in a career that relates to graphic design, I could use the knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator for other uses. I could use my knowledge of graphic design to improve my presentations in my future works. |
